When I think back on my younger days when I wanted to look hot and trendy consignment shopping was not in my vocabulary. However, over time with mortgage and bills if I purchased something trendy it maybe only happened once a month. Or so I thought until the joys of shopping at consignment stores came into my life. I no longer had to spend a fortune to shop firsthand at Banana Republic, Coach, Channel, UGG, Kate Spade, Nine West ... on and on and on.
Yes, I know that it may be a day when I find nothing. But on other days I'm doing my happy dance in the aisles when I find a treasure that is 70% off the brand new price and in excellent condition! When I walk into a room I always amaze women when they ask me where did I find my dress, pant suit, skirt and even purse and my reply is my favorite shop Deja New consignment!
So forget the the malls - enter the world of consignment stores that don't break the bank and you will find fab prices!

An exciting event for all fashionistas is the London Fashion week; it inspires us to take a new look at our closet. So we thought we would share with you our take on our top four inspiring trends for autumn.
Uniform: The Day Dress And Faux Fur
Temperatures in Ottawa are starting to get cooler in the evening. Adding a beautiful faux fur stole or jacket to a long-sleeved, ankle floral dress to cuddle into is this season's love affair.
The Game-changer: Scenic Knits
Most of us still have that knitted sweater that seems never to get out. Now's the time to leave your coat at home and pull out your scenic knit sweater. Retro jersey's from scenic to linoleum patters has stormed ahead as the street styler's outerwear choice.
Empower Yourself: Energy, Passion, & Action
The color red is stepping out. Adding a red shoe just makes your outfit much more stylish even if it's a heel.
Natures Color: Blue on Blue
Fashionistas are pairing shades of blue pieces. Blue is one of the most favored colors among people, so you can never go wrong by wearing. an outfit made of shades of the same color.

Trying to keep up with the latest fashion trends? These fall 2017 trends come straight from the runway, and will have you looking your best.
Consider florals! Many of us may try to stay away from florals thinking that flowers belong in our summer wardrobe. However, the opposite is true. Florals can be worn all year round. This fall transition from summer to fall with staple floral pieces that have a darker colour pallet. For example, instead of a bright yellow floral pattern, look for a dark orange. These styles were seen on the runway by designers such as Coach, Tory Burch and Kate Spade New York.
Go sheer! Layering is key for transitioning from warmer to cooler weather. Why not pair one of your favourite tank tops with a loose sheer top. Try long sleeve sheer blouses on those warmer fall days. Double your wardrobe by having key pieces for all year round to pair with a sheer item.
Are you looking for a staple colour this fall? Try a pale pink, or a dusty pink. Many of us may stray away from this colour when the temperatures drop however, we should really be doing the opposite. The runway featured this colour endlessly. This hue was a common themed for designers such as Christian Soriano and Kate Spade New York.

Growing up I was always told that it takes a village to raise children, so it is wonderful when local businesses show how much they care. These days community is the village. Supporting our community primarily providing women and young women with professional attire, graduation dresses, and shoes is only a little step to helping give back.
Lillian Paul owner of Deja New consignment shows how big her heart is when she received a phone call asking her to donate gently used graduation dress, shoes and purses to the graduating class of Rideau High School. These young women had worked hard over the years, and their graduation, their "Save The Last Dance" before heading out into the big women world might not happen.
For over 60 years Rideau High School has had a diverse group of students, many children are immigrants, refugees, and low-income families, so when Lillian was asked for donations, she responded with a firm "Yes." She immediately started picking out graduation dress that she knew these young women would love along with shoes, and party purses. Lillian Paul wanted to empower the graduating women of Rideau High School with prom dresses and shoes that will make their heart sing with pride and self-confidence as they receive their grade 12 certification.
The school set up a room where the young women went in to do some shopping. They were all so excited and couldn't believe the support from the community that provided everything from dresses to bank and dinner.
Deja New continues to donate dresses, tops, pants, shoes, and purses to a variety of women's charity.
Effective July 1st we will no longer be accepting summer clothes. However, we will still be taking designer purses, shoes and special occasion dresses. If you are unsure about an item contact us.
Keep connected with us on Facebook or our website to be notified the date in August when the fun will start with new fall clothes.
